Geological landscapes and routes

Through specially designed routes, the Big History Centre delves into the knowledge of the geological processes that have developed throughout the history of the Earth. With a specialised guide it is possible to see many of the phenomena that have shaped our current landscapes with the naked eye.

In Aras de los Olmos the visitor can make sense of the folding of the earth’s crust, its fractures, the accumulation of deposits over time.  Chapters of our history such as the Mesozoic or the Cretaceous unveil their secrets before our eyes and explain that what are now great mountains were beaches or marshes in the past; that what a rich Christian tradition considered stony Moorish ears are no more than fossilised ammonites; just open your eyes to discover a rich and exciting world.
